About the role

Design EHOSS machines in SolidWorks, from the first 3D model through the prototype to series production.

About the Role

EHOSS is looking for a design engineer to develop and improve the automated industrial equipment we build for agriculture and farms. Our main products — FORAGE.PRO, BEDDING.PRO, REUSING.PRO and FRESHER.PRO — are automated machines and process systems that handle hay and straw, prepare bedding, recycle organic waste and grow green fodder. We are looking for an engineer with hands-on experience designing industrial machines and mechanisms, who can carry a piece of equipment on their own from the technical concept and the 3D model through the prototype and its testing to series production. The post is also open to university students and to people who have fled the war in Ukraine.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing EHOSS industrial machines, mechanisms and process equipment
  • 3D modelling of parts, sub-assemblies, mechanisms and complete machines in SolidWorks
  • Engineering drawings, assembly drawings and technical documentation
  • Designing steel structures, housings, frames, hoppers, containers and guards
  • Mechanical systems that feed, convey, dose and process material
  • Designing conveyors, screw mechanisms, shafts, rollers, guides and moving assemblies
  • Integrating electric motors, servo drives, gearboxes, and pneumatic and hydraulic components into the mechanical design
  • Calculating the strength, stiffness, loads, stability and service life of mechanical assemblies
  • Selecting materials, standard components, bearings, drives and mechanical transmissions
  • Optimising designs for function, reliability, manufacturability and cost
  • Bills of materials and components (BOM) for production
  • Documentation for laser cutting, sheet-metal bending, CNC machining, welding and assembly
  • Working with electrical design engineers, PLC programmers, process engineers and production
  • Taking part in building, assembling, testing and tuning prototypes
  • Analysing test results and making design changes
  • Design documentation for series production
  • Upgrading and improving existing equipment
  • Helping make sure designs meet European machinery safety standards

What you'll work on

  • Steel structures and housings: load-bearing frames, welded structures, housings, hoppers, guards, doors, covers and service hatches
  • Material handling: belt, screw, scraper and other conveyor systems, and the mechanisms that move hay, straw, bedding and organic material
  • Feeding and dosing: feeders, dosers, moving platforms, pushers, shafts, rollers and adjustable material feed
  • Drives: systems built on electric motors, servo drives and gearboxes, with chain, belt and other mechanical transmissions
  • Material processing: mechanisms that loosen, mix, shred, spread and prepare material
  • Ventilation and extraction: fan housings, air ducts, filter modules and the structures of air-cleaning systems
  • Water supply and irrigation: tanks, pipework, nozzles, drainage and the mechanical parts of process modules
  • Modular designs: interchangeable process blocks, sliding mechanisms, cassettes, trays, and systems for quick installation and servicing
  • Large assemblies and complete machines: the layout of whole machines, kept accessible for installation, transport, operation and service

Requirements

  • A university degree in mechanical engineering, machine building or a related field
  • At least three years of hands-on experience designing industrial machines, mechanisms or production equipment — required
  • Professional command of SolidWorks: 3D modelling, assemblies, parametric design and engineering drawings
  • Experience developing mechanical designs and complex assemblies on your own
  • The principles of calculating the strength, stiffness, loads and stability of structures
  • Understanding of mechanical transmissions, bearing assemblies, drives and moving mechanisms
  • Knowledge of structural materials and how to choose them
  • A practical grasp of how parts are made: laser cutting, bending, turning and milling, CNC, welding
  • Experience producing a full set of design documentation for production
  • Working with technical specifications and building a BOM
  • Finding technical answers, analysing problems and optimising designs on your own
  • Systems thinking, responsibility, precision and attention to detail
  • English at B2, Slovak at B1, Ukrainian at C1
  • An advantage: agricultural, machine-building or process equipment; conveying, dosing, shredding and transport mechanisms; in-depth SolidWorks Sheet Metal, Weldments and Simulation; finite element analysis (FEM / FEA); mechanisms with servo and electromechanical drives; pneumatics, hydraulics and industrial automation; modular equipment and designs built to be easy to repair; European EN / ISO standards, machinery safety in particular; preparing products for CE marking; building prototypes and taking equipment into series production; designing production cost down; the conditions farm equipment works in — dust, damp, vibration, uneven loads and organic material
