About the role

Market Controller

About the position

We are expanding our Finance team at LIONPRO Group and are looking for a Market Controller to join us.

In this role, you will take ownership of the financial control and oversight of a portfolio of legal entities and act as a trusted finance partner to the relevant Regional Directors. Your role will go beyond ensuring accurate financial data and effective accounting processes: you will also need to understand the business behind the numbers, identify risks early, and provide management with data-driven insights and recommendations.

This is an independent and varied finance role in an international environment, combining financial control, reporting, business analysis, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Control & Accounting Processes

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting and finance processes for assigned Group entities operating in international markets, ensuring that accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, bank, and general ledger transactions are complete, accurate, and recorded on time.
  • Support accountants during month-end and year-end closing, ensuring all required activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, analyse material variances, and review the validity and accuracy of costs.
  • Oversee the work of local outsourced accounting and tax service providers.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of finance procedures and working instructions.

Reporting & Business Support

  • Ensure timely and high-quality financial reporting to the Group Finance team.
  • Partner with Regional Directors by providing financial analysis, clear explanations, and hands-on support for financial decision-making.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, cash flow, working capital, and other key financial indicators.
  • Analyse KPIs, monitor costs, and perform profitability analysis, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare financial reports, comparisons, and other management information as required.
  • Explain financial results and variances, helping the business make well-informed, data-driven decisions.

Audit, Tax, Transfer Pricing & Compliance

  • Coordinate the annual statutory audit process and liaise with external auditors for the legal entities within your scope.
  • Coordinate communication with banks and ensure the required financial information and documentation are prepared and provided.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing processes, documentation, and related information requests in cooperation with the Group Finance team and external advisers.
  • Coordinate the preparation of local tax returns and other required statutory reports in cooperation with external tax advisers.
  • Ensure annual financial statements, tax filings, and transfer pricing documentation are prepared, reviewed, and submitted on time.
  • Monitor key financial and tax compliance risks and escalate them to the Group Finance team in a timely manner.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate operational, financial, and accounting issues and support their resolution.
  • Work closely with colleagues across different functions, countries, and regions.
  • Participate in the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud and in finance transformation, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, internal controls, and data quality.
  • Support knowledge sharing and effective operational coordination within the Finance team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in business controlling, financial controlling, accounting, audit, or a similar field. Experience in an international or multi-entity environment will be considered an advantage, as will a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and period-end closing processes.
  • Strong ability to analyse financial information, identify variances, and draw meaningful conclusions about business performance.
  • A high level of accuracy, ownership, and the ability to organise your work independently.
  • A structured and analytical mindset.
  • A proactive approach to identifying problems and driving solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different countries and functions.
  • Experience with annual financial statements, audit coordination, and tax compliance is an advantage.
  • Experience coordinating external accounting or tax service providers is an advantage.
  • Strong Excel skills. Experience with BI and data analytics tools will be considered an advantage.
  • An interest in using AI and automation solutions to improve finance processes.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • The opportunity to join a friendly, growing team in a Latvian family-owned business that has successfully expanded globally and continues to grow.
  • A gross monthly salary of EUR 3,000–3,500, depending on your experience and competencies.
  • Health insurance and a sports allowance from your first day of employment.
  • An annual personal development budget of EUR 1,000.
  • Additional paid vacation days.
  • A modern, international working environment with opportunities to learn and grow.
  • A friendly, results-oriented team.
  • An environment where initiative, ownership, and a drive to improve processes are genuinely valued.
