About the role
Grain Sourcing Manager
About the position
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
We are looking for an experienced Grain Sourcing Manager to strengthen LIONPRO’s grain sourcing capabilities in Europe.
This is a role for someone who knows the market from the inside – understands the key players, products, pricing dynamics and market movements, and ideally already has a strong network of suppliers and industry contacts.
You will take ownership of developing and managing our grain sourcing in Europe, with potential scope extending to other continents over time.
What you will be responsible for
- Build, manage, and grow LIONPRO’s grain supplier base in Europe, identifying and onboarding new, qualified suppliers.
- Negotiate purchase terms, pricing (CIF/FOB), and contracts, and work to progressively improve payment terms with suppliers.
- Verify and track suppliers’ export/import readiness and documentation — phytosanitary certificates, quality certificates, certificate of origin, and other trade documentation as required by destination markets.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, local vs. export price dynamics, and supply/demand shifts for our products, providing regular market intelligence to HQ and the sales team.
- Represent LIONPRO in relevant industry events, trade fairs and conferences, developing relationships and strengthening our presence in the market.
- Provide sourcing-side input (volumes, costs, supplier capacity) for budget planning and forecasting, in coordination with Procurement and Finance.
- Work closely with our international Procurement, Sales, Logistics and Finance teams to align sourcing opportunities with customer demand and business priorities.
What we are looking for
- Strong hands-on experience in grain sourcing, agricultural commodities, or a closely related industry.
- Deep knowledge of the European market, including its key suppliers, market structure and commercial dynamics.
- Proven experience in sourcing, procurement, trading or commercial supplier management.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a strong commercial mindset.
- Ability to build trusted, long-term relationships while also driving strong commercial outcomes.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of a market and supplier portfolio.
- Fluent English, as you will be part of an international team.
- An existing network among producers, processors, traders, exporters or other relevant market players would be a significant advantage.
- Awareness of relevant feed/grain quality and safety certification schemes (e.g. GMP+, phytosanitary requirements) is an advantage.
What LIONPRO offers
- The opportunity to take ownership of grain sourcing in a global trading company that is growing fast
- A role with direct commercial impact, where your market knowledge, relationships and decisions can genuinely shape the business.
- The freedom to build and develop the supplier network, identify opportunities and influence how the category grows.
- A highly international environment, working with colleagues, suppliers and customers across multiple regions and markets.
- Close cooperation with an experienced international team across Procurement, Sales, Logistics and Finance.
- A fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where initiative, commercial thinking and market expertise are valued.
- The opportunity to grow together with LIONPRO as we continue expanding our international sourcing and trading activities.
