HR Business Partner

About the position

(based in Kenya)

LIONPRO is expanding across East Africa, and we’re looking for a Talent Manager to join our regional team, based in Kenya, reporting to our East Africa Regional Director.

In this role, you’ll lead the full talent journey — from recruitment and onboarding to training and development — while standardizing HR practices across our regional offices to ensure consistency, legal compliance, and cultural harmony wherever we operate. You’ll champion a high-performance culture built on clarity, accountability, and growth, and help managers get the best out of their teams through structured goal-setting, feedback, and succession planning. You’ll also design strategies to keep our people engaged, motivated, and excited to grow with us.

If you’re passionate about building great teams and want to help shape LIONPRO’s people strategy across a dynamic, fast-growing region, we’d love to hear from you.

📍 Location: Kenya | Team: LIONPRO East Africa

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR matters

  • Collaborate with the senior management team and Group HR to ensure HR policy is aligned with the company’s goals and long-term vision.
  • Plan and analyze current and future workforce needs, ensuring the right talent is attracted to the appropriate roles.
  • Promote organizational effectiveness by maximizing employee potential and optimizing human resources.

Oversight of East Africa Offices

  • Coordinate the regional team’s HR processes to ensure consistent HR practices, legal compliance, and cultural harmony.

  • Foster a consistent employee experience across all locations, respecting local cultural and legal contexts.

HR Operations and Administration

  • Prepare and maintain employment-related documentation, including employment contracts, amendments, and other HR documents in line with local legislation and Group requirements.
  • Manage employee records and ensure HR documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Coordinate the employee lifecycle locally, including onboarding, probation periods, contractual changes, and offboarding.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal and external partners on payroll-related HR information, employee benefits, statutory requirements, and other local HR administration.

Talent Acquisition and Management

  • Lead the recruitment process: define staffing needs, prepare job descriptions, source and assess candidates, and manage onboarding.
  • Develop and deliver effective training and development programs.
  • Develop strategies for employee engagement, motivation, and retention of top talent.

Employee Relations and Support

  • Serve as a trusted intermediary between managers and employees, fostering open and respectful relationships.
  • Resolve disputes, manage grievances, and ensure fair and transparent disciplinary processes.
  • Promote a workplace culture built on diversity, equity, inclusion, mutual respect, and open communication.
  • Oversee employee wellbeing, health, and safety programs.

Fostering a High-Performance Culture

  • Lead the development of a high-performance culture ensuring clarity, accountability, and team growth.
  • Implement structured goal-setting and performance evaluation processes.
  • Train managers to provide regular feedback and support for employee development.
  • Identify high-potential talent and develop succession plans for internal growth.

HR Expertise

  • Advise managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee matters.
  • Train and consult managers on the effective implementation of HR strategies.
  • Manage the salary and bonus review process, including the related communication plan.
  • Keep up to date with HR trends, labor laws, and best practices.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 3 years of broad, hands-on HR experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment practices and labor legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across different roles, seniority levels, and cultural contexts.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach and comfort working independently in a growing environment where processes are being built and improved.
  • Confidence in handling employment documentation and confidential employee information.
  • Fluent professional English.
