SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in Milton Keynes. This full-time role starts in December 2026 and runs until July 2027, with the potential for a permanent position. You will support pupils aged 5–11 with autism, communication difficulties and complex learning needs, helping them develop independence and access a tailored curriculum. The school offers a nurturing environment with excellent facilities and a strong focus on individual development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with autism and additional learning needs
• Support pupils with EHCP targets and personalised learning programmes
• Assist with communication strategies, including visual timetables and PECS
• Promote independence, confidence and positive engagement
• Work closely with class teachers and specialist support staff

Pre-requisites:

• Previous experience working with children with SEN
• Understanding of autism and communication difficulties
• A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
• Two references within the last two years from a related field
