Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role:

Justteachers is looking for a warm and enthusiastic Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist early years setting in Wellingborough. This full-time role starts in January 2027 and runs until July 2027. You will work with young children with autism, speech and language delays and developmental needs, supporting their early communication, social interaction and independence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children develop essential skills during their early years.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for children with additional needs
• Support early communication, language and interaction development
• Assist with play-based learning and sensory activities
• Encourage independence with personal care and daily routines
• Support transitions and establish consistent classroom routines
• Work closely with teachers, parents and specialist professionals

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children in an early years or SEN setting
• Understanding of child development and additional learning needs
• A caring, creative and patient approach
• Willingness to support personal care where required
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
• Two references within the last two years from a related field
