Behaviour Support Assistant

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a confident and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in Corby. This full-time opportunity starts in December 2026 and runs until July 2027. The provision works with secondary-aged pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation, engagement and maintaining positive relationships. You will support pupils throughout the school day, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills needed to succeed both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and small-group behaviour support
• Implement agreed behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
• Support pupils during lessons, transitions and unstructured periods
• Encourage positive choices, engagement and emotional regulation
• Build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Contribute to behaviour monitoring and progress reviews

Pre-requisites:

• Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs
• Knowledge of SEMH, trauma-informed practice or positive behaviour support
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
• A confident, patient and consistent approach
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
• Two references within the last two years from a related field
