The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join before opening and play a key role in getting a new kitchen ready for launch.

You’ll support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, lead services and help the team develop their skills. There’ll be room to contribute ideas, take on responsibility and grow your own experience within a supportive business.

The Vision

A major new canalside pub destination coming to Birmingham at the start of 2027.

Gas Street Vaults is being transformed into a characterful Joule’s Brewery Taphouse, inspired by Birmingham’s industrial heritage, canal history and pub culture.

Combining great beer, quality pub food, live music and welcoming spaces, our ambition is to create a destination for locals and visitors alike. Food will be central to that experience, from relaxed lunches by the water to evenings spent sharing a meal with friends.

The Food Vision

A pub that does brilliant food, not a restaurant that serves beer.

Our approach is simple — brilliant pub food that complements our beer and wine and gives customers a reason to visit throughout the day.

Expect classics including sandwiches, pies, sausage & mash, fish & chips and Sunday roasts, alongside loaded burgers, sharing food, beer snacks and changing specials, with our Shropshire roots running through the offer.

Gas Street Vaults is being developed as a busy, high-volume pub with big ambitions for its food. As Sous Chef, you’ll work alongside the Head Chef to bring that vision to life, contributing ideas, supporting the kitchen team and keeping quality consistent from the very first service.
