The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to be part of a new kitchen from the start, working alongside our Head Chef and Sous Chef to establish a food offer customers will come back for.

You’ll take ownership of your section, prepare and cook fresh food and help keep service running smoothly. Along the way, you’ll have support to build your confidence, learn from experienced colleagues and develop your skills across the kitchen.

The Vision

A major new canalside pub destination coming to Birmingham at the start of 2027.

Located on Birmingham’s Gas Street Basin, Gas Street Vaults is being developed into a characterful Joule’s Taphouse inspired by the city’s industrial heritage and canal history.

With quality food, great beer and a welcoming atmosphere at its heart, this is a new opening with plenty of opportunity for an enthusiastic kitchen team to make its mark.

The Food Vision

A pub that does brilliant food, not a restaurant that serves beer.

Expect pub classics, great sandwiches and Sunday roasts alongside loaded burgers, sharing dishes, beer snacks and regularly changing specials, with our Shropshire roots running through the offer.

For our Chef de Partie, that means working with fresh ingredients, taking pride in every plate and delivering consistent quality through a busy service.

What You’ll Get Up To

• Preparing, organising and running your section during service

• Cooking fresh food to agreed recipes and standards

• Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef with daily preparation and service

• Maintaining consistent food quality, portion sizes and presentation

• Keeping your section stocked and ready

• Following stock rotation procedures and helping minimise waste

• Keeping the kitchen organised, clean and ready for service

• Maintaining food safety, allergen and hygiene standards

• Working closely with the team during busy services and events

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience as a Chef de Partie or a strong Commis Chef ready for more responsibility

• Experience within a busy food pub or hospitality venue

• A passion for good pub food and getting the details right

• Good organisation and an eye for detail

• A positive, reliable and hands-on approch

• The ability to communicate clearly and work well as part of a team

• An understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene

• Willingness to learn, take feedback and develop your skills
