About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a dedicated Family Team supporting children, young people and their families. You will work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to promote positive outcomes, safeguard children and help them reach their full potential.

As a member of the team, you will manage a varied caseload involving children and young people who may require support through early intervention, child in need services or child protection processes. You will undertake assessments, identify risks and strengths, develop purposeful plans and review progress regularly. Where necessary, you will contribute to care proceedings and permanency planning, ensuring that children’s welfare remains central to all decisions.

You will build effective relationships with children, parents and carers, using strengths-based and relationship-focused practice. The role involves visiting children in accordance with statutory requirements, recording work accurately, preparing reports and presenting information at meetings, reviews and conferences. You will also work closely with schools, health professionals, police, fostering and family support services, and other partner organisations to coordinate appropriate support.

Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You should have experience of working with children and families in a statutory or relevant social care setting, together with a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures, relevant legislation and children’s social care practice. Newly qualified social workers may be considered where they can demonstrate the required knowledge, values and commitment.

You will be expected to manage competing priorities, make defensible professional decisions and maintain clear, timely case records. Strong communication, assessment and report-writing skills are essential, along with resilience, professional curiosity and a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice. In return, you will receive regular supervision, access to professional development and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families.
