About the role

An experienced Adult Social Worker is required to join a busy Safeguarding Team in Shropshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to make a meaningful difference to adults at risk, supporting them to live safely, independently and with dignity.

You will manage a varied caseload involving safeguarding concerns, completing proportionate enquiries and assessments in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures. Your responsibilities will include identifying risk, developing person-centred safeguarding plans, coordinating multi-agency responses and ensuring that outcomes reflect the adult’s wishes, feelings and desired outcomes.

You will work closely with colleagues across health, social care, housing, the police and voluntary services, sharing information appropriately and promoting effective partnership working. The role will also involve maintaining accurate and timely records, preparing reports, contributing to strategy discussions and review meetings, and applying professional judgement when making decisions about risk, capacity and protection.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Previous experience within adult social care, safeguarding or statutory social work is essential, together with a sound understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding principles and relevant equality and human rights legislation. Experience of managing complex or high-risk cases would be highly desirable.

You will need excellent communication, assessment and analytical skills, along with the confidence to work with adults, families and professionals in challenging circumstances. A commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centred practice is essential. You must be organised, able to prioritise competing demands and capable of working independently while contributing positively to a supportive team.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required, depending on operational needs. Enhanced safeguarding checks will apply. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to improved outcomes for adults and communities while developing your professional practice within a collaborative service.
