Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps Engineer, UKIC DV

Listings

Southern Lights is working with a growing technology organisation looking to add several experienced Site Reliability / DevOps Engineers to its Cheltenham based engineering team.

These positions are available on either a permanent or contract basis and will suit engineers who enjoy working across Linux, cloud, infrastructure automation, containers and modern deployment tooling within complex secure environments.

Due to the environment you will be working within, you must already hold current UKIC DV clearance. Other forms of DV clearance cannot be considered for these vacancies.

The role

You will work across a mixture of cloud, virtualised and physical infrastructure, helping engineering teams build, deploy and operate reliable services.

The work will include improving infrastructure automation, deployment processes, monitoring and system reliability, as well as investigating technical issues across different layers of the platform.

Depending on your experience, you are likely to work with technologies including:

• Linux
• AWS
• Terraform
• Ansible or similar configuration management tools
• Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
• Docker and containerised environments
• Jenkins or other CI/CD technologies
• Git based tooling
• Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB or similar monitoring tools
• SQL and relational databases
• Networking and security technologies
• Messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ

Experience with Python, Java or Go would also be useful, although you do not need to be a software developer.

We are particularly interested in people coming from Site Reliability, DevOps, Platform, Cloud or Infrastructure Engineering backgrounds who have worked within highly secure environments.

Essential requirements

You must currently hold live UKIC DV clearance and be happy working onsite in Cheltenham four days per week.

Both permanent and outside IR35 contract options are available.

If you hold UKIC DV and would like to discuss the role confidentially, please apply or contact Southern Lights for further information.
