About the role
An organisation operating within a secure, highly regulated environment is looking to add a couple of IT/Network Engineers to its infrastructure team.
This role focuses on the day-to-day running, maintenance, and support of core systems across a complex technical estate. It suits someone who enjoys structured environments, working to defined processes, and being part of a team responsible for keeping critical systems stable and secure.
You’ll be working in a fast-paced setting where reliability, consistency, and attention to detail are key.
The Role
You’ll play a key part in maintaining system health, resolving issues, and ensuring services run smoothly. The work is largely BAU-focused, with an emphasis on monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and controlled change.
You’ll follow established procedures and escalation paths, while also contributing to improving how things are done over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and health of systems
- Carry out routine maintenance including patching, updates, and system checks
- Identify and resolve issues before they impact service where possible
- Investigate and troubleshoot incidents across infrastructure and platforms
- Escalate more complex issues where required
- Raise and implement changes in line with structured change processes
- Apply security updates, patches, and remediation activities across systems
- Ensure all work is properly documented and tracked through ITSM tools
- Contribute to improving operational processes and reducing repeat issues
- Work within defined security, compliance, and governance frameworks
Background & Experience
- Experience in an operations, infrastructure support, or service desk role
- Ideally from a managed service or service provider environment, or similar structured setting
Hands-on experience across:
- Windows and/or Linux environments
- Networking and firewalls
- Virtualisation platforms
- Cloud services
- Device management (MDM)
- Familiarity with ITIL-aligned processes (incident, change, problem management)
- Comfortable following structured processes and working within defined standards
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving
Working Environment
This role sits within a secure and process-driven environment where adherence to standards and procedures is essential. The systems supported are critical, so attention to detail and disciplined execution are key.
The role is primarily based on-site in Hereford, with some flexibility for hybrid working where appropriate.
Additional Requirements
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness and ability to undergo high-level security clearance as part of the role
