About the role

Listings

Southern Lights is recruiting for an experienced MS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing and well-established technology company based in Somerset.

This is an excellent opportunity for an infrastructure or cloud engineer who enjoys delivering technical projects and wants to move away from the demands of day-to-day support.

You'll join a dedicated projects team, working on a variety of Microsoft cloud and infrastructure implementations, migrations and upgrades.

The Role

You'll take ownership of technical projects from initial planning and design through to implementation, migration, testing and handover.

Projects will cover a broad range of Microsoft cloud technologies and traditional infrastructure, giving you the opportunity to work on varied technical environments rather than maintaining the same systems every day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, designing and delivering Microsoft 365 and Azure projects.
  • Implementing and migrating Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Deploying and configuring Microsoft Intune, Entra ID and associated security technologies.
  • Delivering Azure infrastructure projects involving virtual machines, networking, storage and cloud services.
  • Working with Windows Server, Active Directory and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Supporting infrastructure migrations, upgrades and modernisation projects.
  • Configuring and integrating networking, firewalls, VPNs and associated infrastructure.
  • Managing technical project delivery through to completion, including documentation and handover.
  • Working closely with experienced technical colleagues to develop and implement effective solutions.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with experienced infrastructure, systems or cloud engineers who have a strong Microsoft technology background and enjoy hands-on technical delivery.

Ideally, you'll have experience across several of the following:

  • Microsoft Azure administration, configuration and infrastructure deployment.
  • Microsoft 365 migrations, configuration and administration.
  • Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory and hybrid identity.
  • Microsoft Intune, device management and Autopilot.
  • Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.
  • Windows Server and virtualisation technologies.
  • Networking, firewalls, VPNs and infrastructure security.
  • Technical project planning, implementation and migration.

An AZ-104 certification or equivalent practical Azure experience would be advantageous.

Experience with Fortinet, Azure Virtual Desktop or Zero Trust Network Access would also be useful, although not essential.

Most importantly, you'll need to demonstrate experience of personally delivering technical projects, rather than simply providing ongoing support or coordinating external suppliers.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Salary of £50,000 – £55,000.
  • Hybrid working, with two days per week from home.
  • A dedicated technical projects role with no day-to-day helpdesk duties.
  • Exposure to a broad range of Microsoft cloud and infrastructure technologies.
  • The opportunity to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Work alongside experienced technical professionals in a growing business.
  • A varied technical environment with opportunities to develop your skills.

Interested?

If you're an experienced Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Systems Engineer or Project Engineer looking for a position focused entirely on technical project delivery, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
