About the role
We are recruiting a IT Project Manager for a confidential organisation operating in a regulated, security-sensitive environment.
You will turn business requirements into practical technology projects, guiding delivery from initial planning through to completion. This role suits someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys leading people while remaining closely involved in delivery.
The role
- Define project scope, delivery plans and measures of success with business and technical stakeholders.
- Take ownership of budgets, resource allocation, schedules and delivery risks.
- Coordinate engineers, technology specialists and external contractors, ensuring responsibilities and priorities are clear.
- Lead and develop the delivery team through coaching, support and constructive challenge.
- Identify technical dependencies and resolve issues that could affect delivery or operational continuity.
- Maintain accurate project records and provide clear progress dashboards for senior management.
- Balance commercial priorities with technical requirements, making informed decisions when plans or circumstances change.
Your background
You will have delivered complex technical projects through their full lifecycle and bring experience of leading a project management or technical delivery team.
A practical understanding of technology is essential. You should be able to assess requirements, challenge assumptions and work confidently with engineers and specialist suppliers.
You will also bring:
- Experience controlling project expenditure, capacity, milestones and risks.
- Confidence coordinating colleagues across teams where you may not have direct line-management authority.
- Experience using project management systems to track delivery and produce useful management information.
- Strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal decision-makers.
- The ability to turn business needs into clearly defined IT projects.
- A decisive, accountable approach, supported by sound commercial judgement.
Additional experience welcomed
- A project management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, PMP or AgilePM Practitioner.
- Formal training in leadership or people management.
- Experience adapting Jira workflows, dashboards and reporting to support delivery oversight.
- A background in defence, transport, utilities or other critical infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with operational technology security or the NIS/NIS2 framework.
Security requirements
Applicants must be eligible to undergo the security vetting required for the position. The applicable clearance level and assessment requirements will be explained during the recruitment process.
