About this opportunity

This is a hands-on management position for someone who takes pride in providing excellent customer service, maintaining high standards and developing a successful and profitable parts operation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the department, supporting our workshop and sales teams while also actively developing parts business with both existing and new customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the Great Dunmow Parts Department.
• Lead, support and develop the parts team, setting clear standards and expectations.
• Provide a professional and efficient service to retail, trade and internal customers.
• Identify and supply the correct parts accurately and efficiently.
• Work closely with the Service Department to ensure technicians have the parts required to complete work on time.
• Proactively contact existing and potential customers to generate additional parts business.
• Develop relationships with key agricultural, groundcare and professional customers in the area.
• Produce quotations and follow up outstanding enquiries and opportunities.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels and help improve stock availability and turnover.
• Ensure parts are correctly created, priced and processed through company systems.
• Ensure carriage and other applicable charges are correctly quoted and applied.
• Maintain strong controls over discounts, returns, credits and customer accounts.
• Monitor departmental performance, sales, margins and other agreed KPIs.
• Ensure company procedures and policies are consistently followed.
• Work with other George Browns branches to provide customers with the best possible group support.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience within a parts department, ideally in agricultural, groundcare, plant, automotive or a related machinery industry.
• Has supervisory or management experience, or is an experienced Parts Advisor ready to take the next step.
• Has strong commercial awareness and understands the importance of sales, margin and customer retention.
• Is confident speaking with customers both face-to-face and over the telephone.
• Is organised and able to manage a busy department and competing priorities.
• Has good IT and parts systems/catalogue skills.
• Is comfortable being accountable for the performance and standards of their department.
• Has a positive, proactive approach and is prepared to get involved rather than simply manage from behind a desk.
• Works well with Service, Sales and other departments as part of the wider branch team.

Knowledge of agricultural and groundcare machinery would be a significant advantage, particularly experience with manufacturers such as Kubota, Stihl and other leading machinery brands, although product training can be provided for the right candidate.
