About the role
The Role
Our client is a global alternative investment firm with an established European private equity strategy. They are seeking a Principal to lead capital formation and LP engagement for the strategy, embedded within the investment team and reporting to the Head of European Private Equity, rather than sitting in a central IR function. The position could be based in London or Luxembourg.
The initial focus will be on co-investment syndication and other transaction-related capital solutions, developing new LP relationships, and raising the institutional quality of capital formation processes. Over time, the role will help shape the strategy’s longer-term institutional fundraising roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
Originate and develop institutional LP relationships, primarily across Europe, building a pipeline by appetite, ticket size and relationship maturity
Coordinate LP coverage and engagement strategy across co-investments, continuation vehicles and future fund products
Lead investor workstreams on live transactions, including syndication, LP communications and documentation such as side letters and subscription processes
Own and refine the co-investment playbook, embedding it into the deal workflow
Act as the LP voice within the investment team, informing product design, positioning and timing
Bring rigour to CRM discipline and explore AI and technology tools to sharpen LP intelligence
The Candidate
The ideal individual will have built their experience in private markets capital formation, IR, placement or private equity, with a strong understanding of PE transactions and the confidence to work alongside investment professionals on live deals.
To be successful in this role, the right candidate will have:
Experience of institutional fundraising or co-investment syndication within an FCA-regulated environment
Existing relationships within the institutional LP community, and the appetite to originate new ones
Strong commercial judgement and excellent project management skills
Credibility and polish in front of sophisticated investors
A relevant qualification such as the CFA, IMC or CISI would be advantageous
This would suit an entrepreneurial, intellectually curious professional who values quality and repeatability of capital over headline AuM, and who wants to grow into broader capital formation and product strategy.
