About the role

Wills & Probate Solicitor

  • Birmingham
  • Permanent
  • £40k per year

Hybrid working | 2 days in the office | 35-hour week | Competitive salary

I'm working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm that is looking to add an experienced Wills & Probate Solicitor to its Private Client team.

This is a really good opportunity to join a long-standing, supportive team of experienced lawyers, working closely with the Head of Court of Protection / Private Client on a varied caseload of interesting and often high-value matters.

The role offers plenty of variety, covering everything from Wills, trusts and estate planning through to probate and complex estate administration. You'll also have the opportunity to work on sensitive matters involving families who have lost loved ones in tragic circumstances, so being able to offer a personal, empathetic approach is really important.

And there's plenty to like about the package too! The firm offers hybrid working, with just two days a week in the office, a 35-hour working week and a good range of additional benefits.

What will you be doing?

You'll be involved in a broad range of Private Client work, including:

  • Drafting straightforward and complex Wills.

  • Advising on inheritance tax, trusts and estate planning.

  • Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney.

  • Managing probate and estate administration matters.

  • Dealing with clients and families at what can often be difficult and emotional times.

  • Managing your own caseload, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept updated.

  • Supporting and potentially supervising members of the team.

What are they looking for?

Ideally, you'll have previous experience working within a Wills & Probate / Private Client team, with a good understanding of probate and estate administration.

You'll also need to be confident managing your own caseload, have excellent communication skills and, importantly, be someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and building relationships with clients.

Experience of contentious Probate would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

What's in it for you?

There are some really nice benefits on offer, including:

  • Hybrid working – just 2 days a week in the office.

  • Competitive salary.

  • 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday.

  • Generous annual leave.

  • An extra paid day off for your birthday.

  • Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Training and development opportunities.

  • Death in Service.

  • Cycle to Work scheme.

  • Season ticket loans.

  • Employee referral schemes.

  • Regular team and social events, including summer and Christmas parties.

  • One paid day each year to support a charity or community group of your choice.

Interested?

If you're an experienced Wills & Probate Solicitor and would be interested in finding out a little more, I'd love to have a chat.

Even if you're not actively looking, it's always worth having a confidential conversation to see what's out there.
