Location: Flexible – Multi-office / National
Department: Employment
Position: Full-time
Experience: Experienced Solicitor (ideally 5+ years' PQE)
About the Firm
We are a well-established, multi-office national law firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice and exceptional client service. With an extensive presence across the UK, we combine the expertise and resources of a national practice with the personal approach and client focus of a relationship-led firm.
As part of our continued growth and investment in our Employment team, we are looking to recruit an experienced Employment Solicitor to join our expanding practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and commercially minded solicitor to become part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team, working with a diverse client base across a broad range of sectors.
The Role
You will manage a varied and interesting caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, advising both employer and employee clients. You will work closely with colleagues across the firm's national network of offices, building strong client relationships and delivering pragmatic, commercially focused legal solutions.
The successful candidate will be confident managing matters independently, comfortable dealing directly with clients and keen to play an active role in the development and growth of the Employment team.
Key Responsibilities
-
Advising employers and employees on a broad range of employment law matters.
-
Managing contentious employment matters, including unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and contractual disputes.
-
Advising on non-contentious matters, including employment contracts, service agreements, workplace policies and staff handbooks.
-
Supporting employers with disciplinary, grievance, performance management and absence management processes.
-
Advising on redundancy, restructuring, TUPE and business transfers.
-
Drafting and negotiating settlement agreements and advising on exit strategies.
-
Representing clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings, including case preparation, pleadings, disclosure, witness statements and advocacy where appropriate.
-
Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice to clients.
-
Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships and generate new business.
-
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm's offices and wider practice areas.
-
Keeping up to date with legislative changes, case law and developments in employment law.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Employment Solicitor who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a commercial approach to client service.
You will ideally have:
-
A minimum of 5 years' PQE in employment law, although candidates with equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
-
A strong track record of advising on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
-
Experience managing your own caseload with minimal supervision.
-
Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.
-
Confidence advising a varied client base, including businesses, employers, senior executives and individuals.
-
A commercially aware approach and the ability to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
-
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
-
A proactive approach to business development and relationship management.
-
The ability to work effectively as part of a national, multi-office team.
What We Offer
-
The opportunity to join a growing national law firm with an established reputation.
-
A varied and high-quality caseload.
-
Exposure to a diverse client base and a broad range of industries.
-
The opportunity to work alongside experienced legal professionals across multiple offices.
-
Genuine opportunities for career progression and professional development.
-
A supportive and collaborative working environment.
-
Competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience.
-
Flexible working arrangements, subject to business requirements.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an established Employment Solicitor looking to take the next step in their career within a progressive national law firm.
Whether you are looking to broaden your experience, develop your client relationships, take on greater responsibility or play a part in the continued growth of a successful Employment practice, we would welcome the opportunity to hear from you.
