Project Snapshot
About the job
A major international power transmission contractor is building the Tasmanian landfall of a flagship HVDC subsea interconnector and needs a full-time Site HSE Manager on the ground. Reporting to the Project HSE Manager, you will be the HSE authority on site through HDD, civil and excavation works, cable pull-in and vessel operations, keeping Australian law, client environmental requirements and international maritime rules firmly in force. It is a hands-on role with genuine ownership of safety, running from December 2026 through to 2030.
What we offer
A long-term contract on one of Australia's landmark energy transition projects, working to high international HSE standards alongside an experienced, multinational project team. You can expect a competitive contract package, real ownership of site safety across a technically varied scope, and the stability of a multi-year assignment based close to home, with no rotation. You will join at mobilisation and see the landfall through every phase to completion. ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or OFSC knowledge, GWO training and an offshore medical are a plus.
Description
What you will do
• Lead site HSE compliance across all construction and subcontractor activities.
• Run the Permit to Work system, HAZID actions, audits and inspections.
• Investigate incidents, analyse trends and drive improvement plans.
• Enforce environmental mitigation, waste management and vessel HSE requirements.
• Train site teams and subcontractors and promote behavioural safety.
Required Qualification
What you bring
• 5+ years of HSE management in an EPCI construction environment.
• HSE experience across onshore, offshore and vessel operations.
• Hands-on HSE experience with horizontal directional drilling (HDD).
• Tasmanian WHS knowledge for civil works, plus ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL.
• Incident investigation training (TapRooT or TOP-SET); Australian work rights.
