Job description
Caregiving for a 94-year-old senior (65 kg, 155 cm), who was originally a doctor by profession. The lady is currently significantly weakened following a recent hospital stay and subsequent short-term institutional care after a nighttime fall. Due to prolonged bed rest, she has weakened muscles, feels unsteady while walking and standing, and fears another fall. Her diagnoses include general senile weakness, high blood pressure, reduced hearing (she wears hearing aids), and significant visual impairment (she sees only 20 % with one eye). Mentally, she is occasionally confused but has many clear moments and is mentally present. She lives alone in a family house with a large garden in the countryside. Job responsibilities include assisting with basic care, which involves help with washing, dressing, undressing, and using the toilet. The senior requires only light support (a helping hand) when getting up, during which she can actively cooperate, and full weight lifting is not necessary. The caregiver is also responsible for general household assistance, particularly meal preparation, laundry, and maintaining cleanliness. A cleaner regularly visits the house, who also handles shopping and accompanies her to medical appointments. Night readiness is required approximately twice per night for accompanying her to the toilet. We are looking for a non-smoker with at least intermediate knowledge of the German language for the position. Accommodation is provided in a separate furnished guest room with internet access (WLAN). The schedule for free time is subject to mutual agreement.

Frequently asked questions - Carers
Do you charge fees?
You don't pay our employment agency anything at all. We believe it is not right to charge people money in order to enable them to work, and so we offer assistance in finding job positions completely free of charge.
Do I have to be self-employed?Most job positions in Germany are based on Slovak/Czech trade licenses, though employment contracts are possible with some families. In Switzerland, work is conducted under Swiss employment contracts.
Do I need a caregiving course to work as a caregiver?A caregiving course is not required for families in Germany, but you need at least some experience of caring at home. In Switzerland, most families require a caregiving course.
How long will it take you to find me a family?Finding a family is an individual matter for every candidate, so there is no exact time frame for when we will find you a family that suits you both. In some cases we can arrange a job within a few hours, at other times the wait is a few days. For families in Switzerland, the wait can stretch to a month because of high demand. We place candidates fastest in the summer months, June – August, and more slowly from the end of January to the end of March.
Can you help me travel? Who pays for the trip?If you wish, we will organise your transport. We have worked for many years with transport companies that our caregivers are happy to use again and again. You can of course choose another way of travelling that you prefer. The caregiver pays for the journey herself and the family contributes to it – €180 – 300 in Germany, CHF 380 – 400 in Switzerland, depending on the offer. If you do not have the cash to travel to Germany, we can pay the fare for you and deduct it from your pay afterwards.
How long are rotations usually?
In Germany a standard assignment lasts 4 – 6 weeks, in Switzerland 2 – 3 months. Replacement assignments are shorter.
What is the salary and what does it depend on?In Germany the pay is up to €3 500 a month as a self-employed caregiver – the exact amount is stated in each offer. It depends on your German, the client’s state of health and whether you care for one person or a married couple. In Switzerland the pay is up to CHF 3 500 net a month on a Swiss employment contract.
What level of German do I need to have for a carer job?In Germany, families most often require intermediate to good German; some are happy with basic German and/or want another language, such as Czech, Russian or Bulgarian. Families in Switzerland require good German, although a solid intermediate level is sometimes enough.
Do you also offer work for male carers?Yes, we successfully place male caregivers with families too.
