Marine Engineer - Antwerp Office

Van Ameyde Marine is looking for an experienced Marine Engineer to join our team in Antwerp.

As a Marine Engineer at Van Ameyde Marine, you will carry out technical surveys and investigations on board seagoing vessels and inland barges. You will be involved in a wide range of assignments, including machinery damage investigations, condition assessments, and bunker-related matters.

Over the past decade, Van Ameyde Marine has built a strong international reputation in bunker quality disputes under the leadership of our colleague Walter Dekkers. An important part of your role will be to work closely with Walter, developing your expertise and becoming a trusted partner in handling complex fuel quality investigations and disputes worldwide.

Technical knowledge alone is not enough. Regardless of your findings and conclusions, their value depends on how clearly and convincingly they are presented. You must therefore be able to produce well-structured, comprehensive, and professional reports supported by sound technical reasoning and defensible conclusions.

The maritime industry does not operate on a traditional “9-to-5” schedule. Survey work often requires flexibility and occasionally working outside regular office hours. In return, you will enjoy a challenging and varied position that offers continuous learning and professional development.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate has:

• Several years of experience as a Chief Engineer on board seagoing vessels
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written
• A professional, proactive, and flexible attitude
• The ability to work independently and take responsibility
• Residence within approximately 40 km of Antwerp
