Senior Data Analyst - SAS & SQL

About

You will lead the technical analysis on a data-intensive engagement — writing the code, interrogating the data, and producing reliable outputs that answer real business questions. This is a hands-on role requiring strong SAS and SQL skills, commercial judgement, and the ability to work independently in a client environment.

Responsibilities

• Write SAS and SQL code to extract, join, and analyse large datasets
• Define and build customer and account populations and cohorts
• Analyse account history: payments, arrears, balances, and arrangements
• Translate business requirements into clear, accurate analytical outputs
• Ensure outputs are complete, reconcilable, and defensible under regulatory and audit review
• Work with the client’s Team Lead and data owners to understand data sources and dictionaries
• Provide technical direction to a junior analyst and review their work

Requirements

• Strong hands-on SAS and SQL skills, applied to large datasets
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into meaningful analytical outputs
• Experience building customer or account populations and cohorts
• Background in retail banking — ideally mortgages, lending, arrears, collections, forbearance, or credit risk
• Experience on regulatory, remediation, or lookback projects
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities in a client-facing environment
• Experience working with banks in Ireland or the UK is an advantage
• Power BI or other data visualisation tools are a plus
