About the role

Tempest Resourcing is working with a welcoming, specialist setting in [Borough] to appoint an experienced Communication Support Worker (CSW) holding BSL Level 6. You will support Deaf and hearing-impaired pupils to access the curriculum fully, working alongside teachers, Teachers of the Deaf (ToDs) and the wider SEN team.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled BSL user who wants to make a real difference to pupils' learning, independence and confidence.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide BSL/English communication support in lessons, small groups and 1:1 sessions
  • Support pupils with EHCPs to access learning and achieve their targets
  • Adapt and modify learning resources in collaboration with teaching staff
  • Support pupils' language development, including BSL and English literacy
  • Promote Deaf awareness and inclusion across the school community
  • Support pupils during unstructured times, trips and assemblies where needed
  • Contribute to annual reviews and liaise with ToDs, SALTs and parents/carers

What we're looking for

  • BSL Level 6 qualification (essential)
  • Experience as a CSW or in a similar communication support role, ideally in an education setting
  • Understanding of the needs of Deaf children and young people
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient, flexible approach
  • Familiarity with Deaf culture and identity
  • Experience with SEN, SEMH or ASD (desirable)
  • Additional qualifications such as Makaton or SSE experience (desirable)

Why work with Tempest Resourcing?

  • Competitive daily rates paid weekly
  • A dedicated SEN consultant with over eight years' experience in the sector
  • Access to long-term and permanent opportunities across South London
  • Free CPD and training
  • Referral bonus scheme
