About the role

NOMIS–SyNergy Fellowship Program in Systems Neurology (Munich, Germany)

The NOMIS Foundation, in collaboration with the DFG-funded Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (SyNergy), invites exceptional early-career scientists from around the world to apply for elite postdoctoral positions in Systems Neurology.

The NOMIS–SyNergy Fellowship Programme supports outstanding early-career researchers in conducting independent, interdisciplinary research on Systems Neurology. Fellows are encouraged to develop their own research ideas while being embedded in a vibrant scientific environment that promotes autonomy, curiosity, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The programme aims to foster the next generation of scientific leaders in the emerging field of Systems Neurology.

Who should apply?

  • Highly motivated postdoctoral researchers (PhD/MD completed) with a strong background in neuroscience, molecular biology, systems biology, clinical neurology, computational biology, or related fields.
  • Individuals with a track record of scientific excellence, independent thinking, and a bold vision for interdisciplinary research.

What we offer

  • Cutting-edge science: Engage in Systems Neurology — where systems-level biology and neuroscience merge with clinical neurology — and contribute to insights into shared disease mechanisms and translational innovations. Explore bold ideas and highly ambitious projects.
  • Global network: Join an international community of NOMIS Fellows, including the Salk Institute, the Gladstone Institute and the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA).
  • World-class environment: Join the Munich neuroscience community, supported by two Excellence Universities, as well as five Max Planck and Helmholtz Institutes.
  • Personal mentorship: Receive tailored scientific guidance from renowned PIs in academia and industry.
  • Long-term support: Be part of a prestigious, sustainably funded cluster now entering its third seven-year funding phase.
  • Unique career options: Develop your own scientific project and prepare for leading your own research group.
