About the role
Challenge
As an Apprentice Engineer at SWARCO, you'll have the opportunity to develop your engineering skills whilst working alongside experienced Engineers across our Urban portfolio, including traffic signals, signs and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) equipment.
You'll gain hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding of roadside technology, supporting the systems that help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.
As part of your apprenticeship, you'll combine practical on-the-job training with structured learning, working towards a recognised engineering qualification.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Supporting Engineers with planned and reactive maintenance activities.
Learning how to inspect, maintain, test and repair traffic signals, signs and associated ITS equipment.
Assisting with fault-finding and identifying technical issues under supervision.
Developing an understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles.
Working safely on highways and customer sites, following Health & Safety procedures.
Learning to use engineering tools, equipment and technical systems correctly.
Completing worksheets, training records and apprenticeship assessments.
Working with experienced colleagues to develop your practical skills and technical knowledge.
You'll be supported throughout your apprenticeship, gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills, confidence and competence develop.
