Electrical Technical Designer (Fire Safety Systems) - DEF Italia, Italy

Join DEF Italia as an Electrical Technical Designer and contribute to the development of innovative fire safety projects across industrial, commercial and tertiary sectors.

As part of the continued growth of DEF Italia, a member of DEF Network, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Technical Designer to join our Engineering Department based in Legnano (Milan area).

Your Mission

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with project managers, site teams and customers, you will be responsible for the design and development of fire detection, alarm and suppression systems.

What We Expect from You

As part of our Engineering team, your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and producing 2D/3D CAD drawings for electrical and special systems.

• Developing detailed layouts for:

  • Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems (IRAI)

  • Voice Evacuation Systems (EVAC)

  • Fire Suppression Systems (Gas and Water Mist)

• Preparing single-line diagrams, Bills of Materials (BOM) and project technical specifications.

• Coordinating technical aspects with design offices, construction managers, suppliers and end customers.

• Ensuring compliance with applicable fire safety regulations and project requirements.

• Supporting project execution for both domestic and international installations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience within an engineering consultancy, design office or MEP installation company.

• Strong expertise in AutoCAD.

• Good knowledge of fire detection, voice evacuation and suppression systems.

• Sound understanding of applicable fire safety standards, including UNI 9795 and UNI EN 54.

• Professional level of English (mandatory).

• Availability for occasional travel within Italy.

• Valid driving licence and ability to travel independently.

• Residence in the Legnano area or willingness to relocate.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Revit/BIM.

• Technical Diploma (Industrial Engineering Technician) or Degree in Electrical, Energy or Building Engineering.

• Knowledge of Italian.
