An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant ENT Surgeon with an interest in Head and Neck Surgery to join an expanding, patient-centred and supportive ENT department within an established NHS teaching hospital in North West England.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive clinical team and contribute to the continued development of ENT services, including the delivery of high-quality outpatient, surgical and specialist head and neck care. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with an experienced multidisciplinary team to support the development of patient pathways and improve outcomes for the local population.

The department offers a varied clinical workload, with opportunities to undertake benign head and neck procedures, routine ENT surgery and specialist diagnostic activity. The successful candidate will also contribute to multidisciplinary working, clinical education and the ongoing development of the service.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality consultant-led ENT services, with a particular focus on Head and Neck Surgery.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing outpatient clinics and delivering specialist assessment and management of patients with ENT conditions.

  • Undertaking benign head and neck procedures, diagnostic surgical procedures and routine ENT surgical activity.

  • Supporting the weekly Neck Lump Clinic, working collaboratively with radiology colleagues and fast-track diagnostic services.

  • Participating in Head and Neck Cancer and Thyroid multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.

  • Managing post-operative care and complications associated with routine ENT and head and neck procedures.

  • Contributing to the development and improvement of inpatient and outpatient clinical pathways.

  • Providing consultant supervision, teaching and support to junior doctors and trainees.

  • Participating in the departmental on-call rota, including out-of-hours and weekend cover.

  • Contributing to clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, research and clinical governance activities.

About the Department

The successful candidate will join an established ENT department comprising consultant surgeons, specialty doctors and doctors in training, supported by specialist nursing staff and a wider multidisciplinary team.

The service provides a broad range of ENT care, with established pathways for head and neck cancer, neck lump assessment and thyroid conditions. The department benefits from access to multidisciplinary expertise and diagnostic services, supporting the delivery of timely, coordinated patient care.

There is also scope for the successful candidate to contribute to clinical leadership and help shape the future development of the service.

About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon with specialist expertise or a particular interest in Head and Neck Surgery.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to multidisciplinary working.

  • An interest in teaching, supervision and the professional development of junior colleagues.

  • A commitment to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and continuing professional development.

  • The ability to contribute to the department's on-call commitments.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Permanent NHS appointment offering long-term career stability.
