Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service and repair HGVs, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Allocate work to technicians, monitor progress, and minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Carry out and oversee safety inspections, ensuring RSA/CVRT compliance.
  • Quality-check and sign off completed work to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
  • Provide technical support, mentoring and safety guidance to mechanics and apprentices.
  • Plan PMIs, servicing, inspections, and test bookings.
  • Source and order parts while managing stock and costs.
  • Liaise with drivers and transport planners, including breakdown coordination.
  • Maintain accurate job cards, defect records, maintenance files, and digital compliance records.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior HGV Mechanic or Workshop Foreman.
  • Level 3 NVQ/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet compliance, tachographs, and transport safety.
