Electrical Power Systems Engineer

We are recruiting an Electrical Power Systems Engineer on behalf of our client, an established engineering company based in Tralee, County Kerry, providing specialist engineering services on behalf of the ESB. You will work on the design, assessment and development of electrical power infrastructure projects, including distribution networks and substations and offer support in calculations and Preparing and reviewing electrical schematics. This is a permanent, full time position based in Tralee, County Kerry.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and review electrical power distribution systems and network infrastructure.
• Undertake engineering calculations involving electrical loads, voltage levels, cable sizing, fault currents and network capacity.
• Carry out power system analysis to assess network performance and identify potential issues.
• Prepare electrical schematics, technical drawings, engineering reports and project specifications.
• Liaise with ESB engineers, contractors, suppliers and project teams regarding technical requirements and project progress.
• Assist with the design, assessment and upgrading of electrical substations and associated equipment.
• Provide technical support throughout project development and implementation.
• Conduct site visits, inspections and technical reviews, resolving engineering issues where necessary.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical standards, regulations and safety requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in electrical power systems, HV/MV distribution networks or infrastructure engineering.
• Knowledge of electrical networks, substations and power distribution systems.
• Experience in electrical design, power system analysis and engineering calculations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Full clean driving licence desirable.
