ABOUT PROTRADE

We're looking for a Trade Counter Assistant to join our Mansfield team, helping customers find the right products while supporting the smooth running of the depot.

Roles / Responsibilities

You'll be a key point of contact for customers visiting our depot, helping them find the right products, processing orders accurately and providing a friendly, professional service.

You'll also build relationships with local tradespeople, recommend suitable products, promote current offers and help keep the depot organised and well presented.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering excellent service and is keen to develop their knowledge of tools and trade products.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Welcome customers, respond to enquiries and provide helpful advice at the trade counter.
• Process customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring customers receive the right products.
• Understand customers' requirements, recommend suitable products and identify opportunities to generate additional sales.
• Build positive relationships with local tradespeople and business customers, encouraging repeat business.
• Promote current offers and keep customer records accurate and up to date.
• Keep the trade counter, product displays and stock areas clean, tidy and well organised.
• Work closely with the Depot Manager and colleagues to support the day-to-day running of the depot.
• Follow company procedures and maintain high standards of health and safety.
• Take responsibility for your work and contribute ideas to improve customer service and depot operations.

Skills / Requirements

We're looking for someone who is reliable, customer-focused and keen to learn.

You'll ideally have:

• Good communication skills and a friendly, helpful approach to customers.
• Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.
• Confidence using computers and basic IT systems.
• A proactive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.

Previous experience in a trade counter, retail, sales or customer service role would be an advantage. Existing product knowledge and sales experience would also be beneficial. A full UK driving licence would be an advantage.
