Healthcare Assistant (HCA)

​We are looking for a skilled and experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to provide clinical support across healthcare sites in South East London during November. This opportunity involves supporting routine patient care and assisting with a range of clinical procedures. Successful candidates may be allocated sessions at different locations depending on the practice's requirements.

The position is ideal for an HCA with experience in primary care who is confident performing clinical procedures and providing professional, patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy procedures, including blood sample collection and appropriate specimen handling.

• Conduct new patient health checks and routine health screening assessments.

• Carry out urinalysis and prepare clinical specimens for testing.

• Assist with dressings and wound care in accordance with clinical guidelines.

• Perform ear irrigation where appropriately trained and competent.

• Maintain accurate patient records and document clinical observations.

• Follow infection prevention, patient safety and confidentiality procedures.

• Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team to support efficient patient care.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a GP practice or primary care environment.

• Training and demonstrated competency in phlebotomy.

• Experience conducting patient health checks and routine clinical observations.

• Knowledge of urinalysis, specimen preparation and infection prevention procedures.

• Appropriate training and competency in wound care and ear irrigation.

• Strong communication, organisational and patient care skills.

• Ability to adapt to working across different healthcare sites.

• Availability for one or more of the specified November dates.
