Make a Difference with HFH Healthcare

Are you an experienced, compassionate Healthcare Assistant looking for a rewarding part-time role with regular morning hours?

At HFH Healthcare, we're looking for a reliable and attentive Complex Care Assistant to support a gentleman in his early 70s who is living with a spinal cord injury in his own home in Richmond.

Our client is a family-oriented gentleman who values his independence and enjoys spending time with his loved ones. He retains use of his hands and upper body but requires support with specific aspects of his personal care and daily routines.

We're looking for someone who understands the importance of providing skilled, respectful care while encouraging independence wherever possible.

This is a double-up care position, working alongside an established lead carer during the client's morning routine.

About the Role

You'll support our client with his established morning care routine, including bowel management, personal care and skin care.

Your regular shifts will be:

  • Tuesday: 9am–11am

  • Friday: 9am–11am

Total: 4 hours per week

You'll work with the same client in his own home, rather than travelling between multiple care visits.

This position would suit an experienced carer looking for a small number of consistent weekly hours alongside other commitments.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supporting the client's established bowel management routine.

  • Assisting with personal hygiene, grooming and morning care.

  • Following his individual skin care regimen.

  • Working collaboratively with the lead carer during double-up shifts.

  • Supporting safe positioning and personal care in line with the care plan.

  • Encouraging independence and respecting the client's preferences.

  • Maintaining dignity, comfort and privacy at all times.

  • Observing and reporting changes in wellbeing.

  • Following care documentation and communicating effectively with the wider care team.

All specialist interventions must be performed in accordance with the care plan, appropriate training and assessed competencies.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 6 months' previous professional care experience.

  • Confidence supporting personal care and bowel management.

  • Previous experience with spinal cord injury care would be an advantage.

  • A compassionate, patient and respectful approach.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Confidence working alongside another carer.

  • Reliability and availability for both Tuesday and Friday morning shifts.

  • An understanding of dignity, privacy and person-centred care.

Previous hands-on bowel management experience is desirable, and applicants must be comfortable undertaking this aspect of the role following appropriate training and competency assessment.
