Complex Care Assistant – Luton

Location: Luton, Bedfordshire

Pay: £12.50–£16.00 per hour

Shifts: Monday to Thursday, 3:30pm–9:30pm

Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week

At HFH Healthcare, we're looking for a friendly, compassionate and engaging Complex Care Assistant to support a sociable young woman with complex care needs in her family home in Luton.

Our client loves music, Taylor Swift, audiobooks, art, sensory activities and getting out and about. She particularly enjoys trips to the cinema, theatre and spending time outdoors.

She's happiest when she's included in conversations and activities. We're looking for someone who will take the time to get to know her, share her interests and help her enjoy everyday life.

She communicates non-verbally using assistive technology and familiar communication methods. It's important that you speak directly to her, listen carefully, give her time to respond and involve her in decisions.

We're looking for someone who will treat her as the young adult she is, respecting her dignity, choices and individuality.

What will you be doing?

• Providing personalised one-to-one care and companionship.

• Engaging her through music, art, sensory activities and conversation.

• Supporting social outings and community activities where appropriate.

• Learning and using her individual communication methods and assistive technology.

• Encouraging choice, independence and participation in everyday activities.

• Supporting personal care and daily routines in line with her care plan.

• Recognising her responses, preferences and changing needs.

• Working closely with her family and the wider care team.

• Maintaining a safe, comfortable and positive home environment.

What are we looking for?

• At least 6 months' previous care experience.

• A kind, patient and naturally engaging personality.

• Someone who enjoys music, creative activities and social interaction.

• Excellent listening and observation skills.

• A willingness to learn non-verbal and assistive communication methods.

• Someone proactive, reliable and attentive to individual needs.

• A genuine respect for independence, dignity and personal choice.

• Comfortable working in a family home with dogs.

Above all, we're looking for someone who will engage with her, include her and make sure her voice is heard.
