Assistant Superintendent (Entry-Level) – Construction
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Assistant Superintendent to join a busy construction team. This entry-level opportunity is suited to someone with a strong interest in site operations, excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn from experienced construction professionals.
Working under the direction of the Superintendent and Project Manager, you will support the day-to-day coordination of construction activities, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will spend significant time on site, developing practical knowledge of construction processes, subcontractor management and project documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the supervision and coordination of subcontractors, suppliers and site activities.
- Monitor progress against project programmes and report any issues or delays promptly.
- Support site inspections, quality checks and the resolution of construction defects.
- Help maintain accurate daily records, including site diaries, deliveries, labour and work completed.
- Review drawings, specifications and method statements, escalating discrepancies where necessary.
- Promote safe working practices and assist with compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Attend site meetings and communicate updates effectively to project stakeholders.
- Assist with coordinating deliveries, materials, plant and access arrangements.
About you
You will ideally hold a qualification in construction management, civil engineering, building studies or a related subject, although relevant site experience and a strong practical interest will also be considered. A basic understanding of construction methods, health and safety requirements and project documentation would be advantageous.
You should be dependable, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The ability to read technical information, use standard computer applications and build positive working relationships is important. A full driving licence may be required, depending on project location.
What is offered
This role provides structured on-the-job development, exposure to a range of construction projects and the opportunity to progress within the industry. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, along with training and support to help you build a successful career in construction management.
