Escape Recruitment is working with Volvo Construction Equipment in Motherwell to recruit a time-served Plater on a permanent basis.

Following a recent resignation, Volvo has an urgent requirement for an experienced Plater to join its Structural department. This is a hands-on role producing steel components and structures from engineering drawings, with a focus on accuracy, quality and safe working.

The role

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

• Mark out, measure, cut, shape and prepare steel plates and sections.

• Assemble components using tack welding, bolting and other approved methods.

• Check dimensions, alignment, squareness and fit-up throughout fabrication.

• Identify and report material defects, drawing discrepancies and fabrication issues.

• Work closely with welders, fabricators and supervisors to meet production targets.

• Maintain safe working practices and support quality inspections and continuous improvement.

What you'll need

• A recognised, time-served background as a Plater.

• Proven experience in plating, heavy fabrication or structural steelwork.

• The ability to work accurately from engineering drawings.

• Experience using fabrication tools, machinery and measuring equipment.

• A sound understanding of health and safety within a workshop or industrial environment.

Familiarity with fabrication documentation and quality inspection procedures would be an advantage.
