We are inviting applications from promising and enthusiastic BEng / MEng Chemical Engineering undergraduates for a Year Out Placement within our Water Team, commencing summer 2027.
As a busy and dynamic Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy, our Water Team works on a wide range of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. Our process engineers carry out process assessment and process design for water and wastewater treatment plants, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The successful placement student will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in a range of process engineering activities. This may include assessing raw water characteristics and variations, influent flows and chemical loadings; identifying suitable water and wastewater treatment processes; preparing process layouts; and assisting with the sizing of process units and associated equipment.
You may also gain experience in hydraulic design, pump selection, process equipment, sludge treatment and the management of treatment by-products, alongside providing support to other members of the Water Team.
The placement may also provide exposure to areas including water sampling, chemical analysis and environmental monitoring. Working alongside experienced ProcessEngineers and other engineering disciplines, you will gain an understanding of how process engineering contributes to the delivery of water and wastewater projects while developing your technical and professional skills.
Applicants should be currently studying towards a BEng or MEng in Chemical Engineering, with an anticipated return to university following completion of the placement.
