We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to support and enhance our Risk Platforms and Technologies Unit.

About the Role

You will design, build and operate production-grade machine learning (ML) capabilities that turn complex data into reliable, explainable and measurable solutions. The role combines applied ML, software engineering and close collaboration with domain, data, security and platform specialists. As a national card and payment operator, fintech and other business lines, BORICA operates and accumulates significant amounts of data, which are a prerequisite and require the development of numerous initiatives to provide maximum added value for customers.

What you will work on

• Design, develop and validate machine learning models for forecasting, anomaly detection, classification, risk analytics and intelligent automation.
• Build reusable data preparation, feature engineering, training and evaluation pipelines using structured and unstructured data.
• Productize models as secure, maintainable services and integrate them with enterprise applications and data platforms.
• Create automated ML workflows covering experiment tracking, model versioning, testing, deployment, monitoring and controlled retraining.
• Define model performance, quality and operational metrics; investigate drift, bias, data-quality issues and unexpected model behaviour.
• Work with business and technical stakeholders to translate real-world problems into testable ML objectives and measurable outcomes.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and explain model assumptions, limitations and results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to engineering standards for responsible AI, security, privacy, reproducibility and lifecycle governance.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on with classical ML models like Regression, Classification, Clustering, Anomaly Detection, Ensemble methods.
• Practical experience building and evaluating machine learning solutions with Python.
• Solid knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, validation methods and model evaluation.
• Experience with common ML and data libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas and NumPy; experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow is welcome.
• Good SQL skills and confidence working with complex data sets, relational databases and analytical data models.
• Ability to reason about data quality, leakage, explainability, robustness, privacy and security throughout the ML lifecycle.
• Working proficiency in English, strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Advantages

• Experience with MLOps platforms, experiment tracking, model registries, feature stores or model monitoring.
• Financial Domain Knowledge with Fraud Detection, Transaction Monitoring, Risk Scoring, Payment Analytics.
• Knowledge of cloud or on-premises data and AI platforms, container orchestration and distributed processing.
• Experience with time-series analysis, graph analytics, natural language processing, generative AI or retrieval-augmented generation.
• Knowledge of data warehousing, streaming technologies or message brokers such as Kafka.
• Experience in financial services, payment systems, fraud prevention, cybersecurity or another regulated environment.
• Awareness of responsible AI, model risk management and regulatory expectations for high-impact AI systems.
