Yard & Plant Operative

Key Responsibilities

· Safely operate a telehandler to load, unload and move plant, equipment and materials.

· Manage equipment and stock movements into and out of the yard.

· Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and basic equipment checks.

· Wash, clean and prepare equipment for delivery to customers.

· Check returned equipment and prepare it for its next use.

· Maintain the cleanliness, organisation and general condition of the yard.

· Support stock control and identify and report any equipment, damage or maintenance requirements.

· Liaise with drivers, suppliers and service personnel regarding equipment movements.

· Assist the service team with preparation and general maintenance activities.

· Ensure equipment and materials are stored safely and efficiently.

· Follow all company health and safety procedures.

Requirements

Experience & Requirements

· Proven experience operating a telehandler is essential.

· Previous experience working with plant, cranes, heavy equipment or machinery is highly desirable.

· Experience in a plant yard, equipment yard, construction, engineering or similar environment.

· Good understanding of safe loading, unloading and movement of heavy equipment.

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage a varied workload.

· Practical and hands-on approach to work.

· Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently.

· Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining equipment and the yard.

· Good spoken and written English is essential.

· Full, valid driving licence.

· Category C/HGV licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
