Head of Technical Finance

We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Head of Technical Finance to join a local authority in the North West region on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for providing technical financial expertise, leading a finance team, and supporting the delivery of key financial priorities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and technical financial leadership.
• Lead budget planning, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Support statutory accounts and year-end processes.
• Ensure compliance with local government finance regulations and accounting standards.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to drive sound financial decision-making.
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team.

About You:

• CIPFA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Extensive local government finance experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Proven track record in leading finance teams and delivering financial improvement.
• Able to quickly add value in an interim capacity.
