About the role
Dublin City Volunteer Centre: Facilitator - Organisation Workshop
Call For Facilitator: DCVC Organisation Workshop
Dublin City Volunteer Centre (DCVC) operates a website (I-Vol.ie) where prospective volunteers search and apply for volunteer roles, and where charities and organisations advertise volunteer vacancies. While DCVC’s CRM holds over 700 organisations, only about 40 currently have active advertisements. DCVC seeks to understand why many organisations have ceased using I-Vol.
DCVC is looking for an experienced external facilitator to design and lead a 3-hour interactive workshop focussed on discovery of factors which have resulted in the low uptake (>6%) of their online platform.
The attendance is expected to be between 10 and 25 individual organisations or charities; about one quarter are still engaged with the DCVC platform while the rest are from those who have stopped.
The maximum budget is €1,500 (all-inclusive), and the closing date for applications is 6 November 2026.
What We Want From The Workshop
By the end of the assignment, we require:
- root causes for why organisations pulled back from using the I-Vol and DCVC services – internal (theirs) and external (DCVC’s and Volunteer’s).
- the Volunteer Manager experience of volunteer recruitment from the decision to recruit a volunteer through to volunteer placement.
- best practices and solutions from organisations that continually use DCVC platform.
- all other raw outputs that DCVC can subsequently analyse.
The Role
- Consult: Attending a briefing with the DCVC Organisation Development Team. Reviewing background material.
- Design: Developing a detailed design outline for DCVC approval (session structure, timings, approach to anonymous input tools)
- Facilitate: Facilitating the 3-hour workshop, establishing an inclusive and neutral environment, managing dominant voices, and ensuring participants understand confidentiality and how their input will be used.
- Report: Provide raw outputs (flipchart/card photos, Mentimeter exports, consolidated facilitator notes) within 10 working days and attending a 1-hour debrief session with DCVC.
What We Are Looking For
- Essential: Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating interactive workshops/focus groups (10–25 participants) with community, voluntary, or non-profit organisations.
- Essential: Proven ability to elicit candid views, manage sensitive discussions or grievances, and utilise anonymous input methods effectively (e.g.; use of Mentimeter, cards)
- Essential: Neutral facilitation skills in the presence of DCVC, plus experience working with small/under-resourced organisations.
- Desirable: Knowledge of the Irish volunteering sector and volunteer recruitment/management; background in service improvement or user research.
How To Apply
Please send the following by email:
- A short summary of the proposed approach, including handling mixed participant groups and gathering candid/anonymous input.
- CV(s) or professional profiles.
- Examples of 2–3 relevant past assignments
- A fixed-fee financial proposal, VAT status, and expense details of no more €2,000 (all-inclusive), showing your daily rate and number of days
A detailed retreat agenda is not needed at this stage. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a brief discussion.
