€39,000 gross per annum

ARD Family Resource Centre and the Western Region Drug and Alcohol Task Force wishes to recruit a Drug & Alcohol Family Support Worker to provide a confidential, non-judgemental support service to people adversely affected by a family member or friend’s drug or alcohol use. The service will respond to identified need throughout County Galway.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A third-level qualification in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals, families and communities.
  • Desirably, some experience in supporting young people
  • An empathetic, sensitive and non-judgemental approach to supporting family members.
  • An understanding of the complexity of addiction and its effects on individuals, families and communities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of wider teams and networks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with good IT skills.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
