We’re looking for a Solutions Architect – Cloud & AI to join our Consulting team at 848 Group, helping design and deliver innovative Microsoft cloud solutions that enable our clients to transform their businesses.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with client-facing consulting. You’ll work closely with customers, internal consultants, and delivery teams to design scalable, secure, and high-performing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 solutions that deliver measurable business value.

As a trusted technical advisor, you’ll help shape solution strategy, lead technical workshops, and ensure high standards of architecture and delivery across multiple client engagements.

You’ll also play an important role in developing 848’s Cloud & AI capabilities, contributing to pre-sales activities, mentoring colleagues, and supporting the evolution of our services and solutions portfolio.

The role offers flexible working, with a combination of home working, visits to 848 offices, and occasional travel to customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture and Technical Leadership

• Lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud solutions
• Define architectures that meet client requirements for scalability, security, resilience, and performance
• Produce high-quality design documentation such as high-level and low-level designs
• Provide architectural governance and technical assurance across multiple projects
• Ensure solutions align with best practices, security frameworks, and client objectives

Client Consulting and Engagement

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients on cloud strategy and architecture
• Lead technical discovery sessions and workshops with business and technical stakeholders
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and architecture designs
• Work closely with account teams to identify opportunities for optimisation, automation, and innovation

Delivery Assurance and Technical Quality

• Oversee technical delivery across multiple projects, ensuring quality and consistency
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to consultants and engineers
• Review documentation, configurations, and change processes to ensure high standards
• Support project teams in resolving complex technical challenges

Pre-Sales and Solution Development

• Support sales and bid teams with technical input, solution design, and scoping
• Contribute to proposals, tenders, and customer presentations
• Help shape new service offerings within the Cloud & AI portfolio
• Work with marketing and product teams to develop new solution capabilities

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Drive the adoption of new Microsoft cloud technologies and AI-enabled services
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, documentation, and reusable solution assets
• Identify opportunities to automate delivery and improve service efficiency
• Provide insight into emerging technology trends and industry best practices

What We're Looking For

Experience

• Proven experience working as a Solutions Architect, Technical Consultant, or Senior Cloud Engineer
• Strong experience designing and delivering Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud solutions
• Experience working in a consulting, managed services, or client-facing IT environment
• Experience leading technical delivery or providing architectural oversight across projects

Skills

• Excellent stakeholder communication and presentation skills
• Strong architecture design and documentation capabilities
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, identity, networking, and security
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams

Qualifications and Certifications

• 9+ years’ experience in technical consulting, cloud engineering, or solution architecture
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or equivalent (desirable)
• Knowledge of cloud governance frameworks and architecture best practices
• Experience with Azure AI services, automation, or modern cloud platforms (desirable)
• ITIL, Agile, or PRINCE2 certifications (desirable)

Other Requirements

• Willingness to travel to customer sites when required
• Ability to work across multiple client engagements simultaneously
• Any offer is subject to the receipt of satisfactory BPSS and credit checks ahead of contract start date and, where required, the ability to obtain Security Clearance funded by the business

Bonus Points If You Also Have

• Experience working in managed services or consulting environments
• Experience delivering large-scale cloud transformation projects
• Knowledge of AI-enabled services, automation, or cloud optimisation frameworks
• Experience mentoring or developing technical consultants
